Silicone
Your Podiatrist has prescribed a custom-made pressure redistributing
device from high quality silicone putty. To ensure comfort and the best
possible results please follow the instructions below:
1. Wait for 3 hours before wearing your toe corrector unless your
Podiatrist advises you otherwise. This will ensure that the silicone putty
has fully hardened and the toe corrector will not become misshapen
when worn.
2. Please follow your Podiatrist’s instructions regarding initial wearing in
of the device. During this period please check your feet/toes daily to
monitor for any redness, skin irritation or blistering. If you notice any
changes to your skin please remove it immediately and contact your
silicone provider for reviewing, your GP, nurse or MDFT (if you have
diabetes).
3. Please wear it daily when you are wearing shoes and/or socks and
remove at night and when in the shower/bath.
4. Please bring it with you to your Podiatry appointments so that it can
be checked for any wear and tear.
5. Toe correctors can be washed with washing up liquid and warm water
and dried with paper kitchen towel.
6. Although this silicone is of the highest quality, your toe corrector
will eventually wear out to due to normal wear and tear. We would
encourage you to contact a qualified HCPC registered Podiatrist when
this happens to obtain a replacement which often is a local private
Podiatrist as advised by your current Podiatry provider.
