We have updated the way that PGDs are accessed from this page. As before there is an alphabetical list in table form. Details of particular staff qualifications necessary for using each PGD is contained  in the body of the text. However, the second column provides a reminder of which staff groups are widely eligible.  Staff will need to be signed up in advance for each and every PGD that they plan to use. This would normally take place via consultation with a departmental or clinical service lead. PGDs are designed to be used by staff who are already familiar with the products on them, they are not designed as a how to guide and such use is not appropriate. All staff should be familiar with the content of each PGD.

Not all PGDs are designed to supply the medication for to the patient to take away, please check the wording carefully, if it doesn’t say it you can’t supply it. Where permitted a fully legally labelled packs is required.

The final column reminds us of expiry dates, lead staff are responsible for printing off new copies as they become available and staff need to re-read and sign the new PGDs. These may be kept in a file for reference purposes. They are reviewed and update very 2 years, or sooner if needed.
