Acute Mental Health Liaison - Worcestershire

The Mental Health Liaison Team provides comprehensive assessment to all people, regardless of age, who attend Worcestershire Royal Hospital and the Alexandra Hospital Emergency Departments following an episode of self-harm, attempted suicide or presenting with symptoms of mental illness.

About the service
The Mental Health Liaison Team provides comprehensive assessment to all people, regardless of age, who attend Worcestershire Royal Hospital and the Alexandra Hospital Emergency Departments following an episode of self-harm, attempted suicide or presenting with symptoms of mental illness. Mental Health Liaison have an hour response time to the Accident and Emergency Department.
Additionally, The Mental Health Liaison Team provides assessment, ongoing care and treatment, onward referral and signposting for all other mental health related presentations across Worcestershire Royal Hospital and the Alexandra Hospital inpatient wards; this includes patients transferred from inpatient mental health wards & patients detained under the Mental Health Act 1985.
All patients assessed will be offered a robust, individualised care plan based on the needs identified during the assessment.
The team accepts referrals from mental health inpatient wards, referrals from hospital-based health care professionals via the hospital pager system or a hospital-based e-referral which can be accessed the Worcestershire Acute Trust intranet page.
The service operates 7 days per week, 24 hours a-day.
