Worcestershire Community Hospitals introduce end of life comfort boxes

Abbot Ward team receiving their end of life comfort boxes for patients

Community hospitals in Worcestershire have launched end of life comfort boxes in our wards and units. These specially designed boxes are filled with thoughtful items to provide extra comfort and support for patients and their loved ones during end-of-life care.

The boxes contain a variety of items such as handmade blankets, cosy socks, knitted love hearts, and a comfort bag for family members. There's even a hand-crafted property bag and a candle for loves one to take home.

This wonderful initiative was made possible thanks to the generous contributions of volunteers from Crafting for Communities in Stourbridge.

Katy Power, Clinical Nurse Specialist for Community Palliative Care Triage and EoL Education Facilitator said: “I wanted to say a huge thank you to all the volunteers involved from Crafting for Communities. Without them, this project wouldn't be possible. We hope these items will provide an extra level of comfort and support to patients and their loved ones."
