NHS staff named as finalists in apprenticeship awards

Staff at Herefordshire and Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust have been announced as finalists in five categories at the Worcestershire Apprenticeship Awards.

The awards recognise and celebrate apprentices, employers, training providers, schools, and apprentice champions across the county.

The shortlisted awards include Apprenticeship Champion of the Year, Large Apprenticeship Employer of the Year, and the coveted Apprentice of the Year award.

The Trust has a history of success with its apprenticeship programmes, winning the Large Apprenticeship Employer of the Year last year, and Worcestershire Group Training Association’s (HWGTA) Employer of the Year in 2021.

Ally Middleton, Head of Education and Clinical Development at the Trust said“It feels surreal to be recognised for such prestigious awards, let alone five! I’m very grateful for all the hard work that goes into welcoming and supporting apprentices at the Trust. Offering such a vast range of career opportunities is difficult but what our Apprenticeships Team has managed this year is beyond commendable.”

“Anyone who decides to pursue an apprenticeship with us, will truly be able to see the impact of their hard work, the effort we put in to give them the best experience possible, and ultimately how this helps provide the best care to our patients and service users”.

Shortlisted for the Higher Level Apprentice of the Year and Worcestershire Apprentice of the Year awards, Gaynor Roberts, said“I think apprenticeships are a great way to upgrade your skills and knowledge, despite where you are in your career journey – even if you are just starting out. I am so lucky that I have been able to pursue an apprenticeship on alongside my job, and am grateful to the Trust, who have allowed me to follow my desired career path in such a way.”

“I am honoured to be nominated for these awards as they recognise the commitment and time I have invested in my apprenticeship and have encouraged me to continue my career development and learning through the apprenticeship model.”

The Trust actively promotes learning and development opportunities within the organisation and claims that apprenticeships form an important part of the development journey for both new employees and the existing workforce.
