New sexual health clinic opens
A new state of the art sexual health clinic has officially opened in Worcester.
Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust, which provides a range of sexual health services across the county, has opened a new, purpose built clinic at Aconbury North on Newtown Road.
The move brings together sexual health services previously delivered from the John Anthony site and Moor Street clinic which was inaccessible for patients in a wheelchair.
Service users can now access a range of sexual health and contraception care, including a vasectomy clinic, delivered under one roof through a mix of walk-in and pre-booked appointments.
The integrated service benefits from new consultation rooms, a clinical procedure suite and a private area for patients to recover following minor procedures.
The onsite lab also allows for efficient testing for STI screening, helping t o deliver a quicker turnaround of results to help prevent the onward transmission of sexually transmitted infections and diseases.
Dr Melanie Mann, Worcestershire Integrated Sexual Health services said, “We recognise the importance of having a positive and accessible environment for people who need sexual health services and we are really proud that the new clinic at Aconbury North provides that.
It also enables us to bring together a range of treatments and sexual health care under the same roof, helping us provide a more integrated, effective and efficient service for the people of Worcester.”
Prebookable appointments are available via the Worcestershire Integrated Sexual Health (WISH) website www.knowyourstuff.nhs.uk and by calling 0300 123 1731.
