Worcestershire’s Minor Injury Units (MIUs) are here for you this Christmas
Minor Injury Units (MIUs) across Worcestershire will be open throughout the Christmas holidays, offering prompt advice and treatment to anyone with a minor injury.
Herefordshire and Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust, which runs MIUs in Bromsgrove, Evesham, Malvern, and Tenbury is encouraging the public to utilise their local units this winter to help ease pressure on busy emergency departments.
Attending MIUs for minor injuries helps to free up capacity in emergency departments for those with serious and life-threatening illness and injuries.
Additionally, those attending MIUs with minor injuries are often seen quicker and treated faster than if they attended an emergency department.
Dawn Shaw, Operational Lead for Countywide MIUs said, “With local emergency departments experiencing unprecedented demand, it’s now more important than ever that people know where to go when they need medical advice or treatment.”
“Patients can walk into any of Worcestershire’s MIUs for advice and treatment this Christmas and New Year, including Christmas Day and the bank holidays.
Our staff are highly skilled and experienced in treating a range of minor injuries, including minor burns, strains, sprains, and minor cuts.”
Unfortunately, minor injury units are unable to treat illnesses, and anyone needing advice or treatment for an illness over the festive period is encouraged to visit the NHS website for guidance on where to access help.
Anyone in need of urgent medical advice is encouraged to contact NHS 111 via 111.nhs.uk or by phoning 111. The service is available 24 hours a day, including on Christmas Day.
