CHILD DEVELOPMENT TEAM (Guide for parents and carers)
The Child Development Team (CDT) is a group of professionals from health and care, led by your health service.
The Team meet regularly across the county to discuss children who may have additional needs or require specialist help.
The CDT gathers information:
- To co-ordinate multi-professionals support.
- To highlight your child’s needs.
- To identify any services that may be appropriate to your child
- To identify further assessments e.g. for Autism, Global Development Delay
Example of CDT professionals:
- Community Paediatrician
- Health Visitor
- Occupational Therapist
- Specialist Play Service
- Physiotherapist
- Speech and Language Therapist
- Child Development Centre
- Orchard Service
Children are only discussed with your permission and your views are highly valued and always asked for prior to the meeting.
We invite you to complete the attached Parent Information form and forward the Childcare Setting form to your child’s Nursery/Childcare setting, if they attend one. This information will be included in the discussion.
A member of the CDT will contact you following the meeting, to discuss the outcome with you.
A record of the Child Development Team discussion will be available on request.
