Local MIUs - treating a range of minor injuries quickly and effectively
People across Worcestershire are being encouraged to access their local Minor Injury Units for non-emergency injuries to help ease pressure on A&E departments, which should only be used in life threatening/emergency situations.
Minor Injury Units (MIUs) offer advice and treatment for a variety of injuries including cuts, grazes, wounds, sprains, minor eye injuries, strains and minor burns. You can turn up to any of the county’s MIUs and while waiting times will vary by unit and at different times of day, they will be significantly less than in A&E.
Residents are also advised to contact NHS111 first to speak to a trained adviser who will assess their symptoms and direct them to the most suitable healthcare service for their need. If required, they will book an appointment to attend an MIU for treatment.
Local MIUs are in Bromsgrove, Malvern, Evesham, Kidderminster and Tenbury. More details on opening times for each location can be found at www.hacw.nhs.uk/miu
