Health Visiting

A county-wide service providing universal services as part of the Healthy Child Programme to all children from birth to starting school. This includes new birth visits, breast feeding support, newborn hearing screening, development checks and targeted support for vulnerable families.

Client group

Ante-natal to start of school.

How the service is accessed

Each new birth generates a birth notification and a Health Visitor is assigned to the family. Vulnerable families notified to health visitors prior to birth.

Based within community clinic and some GP Practices throughout the county. Services provided from Children's Centres.
